Papa Joe's Ponderins

                   Thought for Today
                 Church Membership

I am one that believes in Church Membership, I believe it is a good thing. There are others that believe as I do. I believe that the Word teaches us to unite with a body of believers, which is the church.

Acts has a lot to say about the early church and the togetherness they shared.

But did you realize that this church membership will not save you, never has and never will. Only the blood of Jesus can do that.

Hebrews 9:12 & 14 (KJV)
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Yet we find many people that feel that if they are a member of a church they are alright. Folks, this is wrong. It is misleading.

I’ve known people that never accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, never confessed their sins, never went to church anywhere, yet wanted a church service when they died.

Folks, that doesn’t help you.

Once you are dead, if you haven’t accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, it’s too late. It is sad and I am sorry, but that’s the way it works. That is not my rule nor any other humans, that is God’s rule and that has been the case for ages.

We need to make things right with the Lord now while we can.

Double Branch Church News

Pastor and Staff Appreciation Day was Sunday for Double Branch.

Tom Howard was guest speaker who challenged the leaders and the congregation to always be behind the Pastor and staff for they are God's ministers sent to them from God.

We left with our hearts filled with the Holy Spirit and our bellies filled with food.

Special thanks to Wes and Angela Conner proprietors of Kinard's Cleaners who allowed Double Branch to give away biscuits and gravy, hotdogs and helium balloons at the Hawkinsville Downtown Fall Festival.

A good time was had by all and good impression was made on the community.

Sermon Title & Text:
Tom Howard delivers a message for Pastor & Staff Appreciation Day!

Commendation Corner:
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Double Branch Ministries Booth at the Hawkinsville Downtown Fall Festival yesterday. A good time was had by all and a good impression left on the community.

Pastor Appreciation Ponder:
Anything can happen in the life of a preacher and it usually does! It has been said that a preacher must be ready to die, ready to preach, and ready to take up a collection. He must be ready for any emergency, geared for surprises, set for emergencies. He must control his emotions to meet tragedy or comedy." - Vance Havner

We Appreciate Your Pastor:
Comsouth Channel 100 - "Just want to write a quick note to thank you for your participation on Channel 100. We get lots of comments about your services. I attempt to play the services several times a week due to all the positive comments that we receive. We have also begun putting your services free of charge on Progressive Tel which is another cable system that reaches parts of Dodge, Laurens and Bleckley Counties. You are making an impact in middle Georgia and as a fellow Christian I applaud you." - Shelly Berryhill

Pulaski & Perry Progress - "Thank you for sharing the Good News each week in your column. I really have people each week that tell me they read it. So, you are reaching more and more people than you know. His Word will not return void ... I'm glad we can partner and share it together. - Tim Young

Pastor Appreciates Monte & Carmen:
Monte and Carmen are true friends of the Clark family. They make the ministry of Double Branch much more effective and innovative.

Monte can do just about anything in addition to his CE/MU responsibilities.

Carmen brings a whole new dimension to the children's music ministry here. She sings and plays the piano masterfully.

Monte and Carmen are the best partners any Pastor and wife could ever have. Double Branch is very fortunate to have these two multi-talented people here with us.

Pastor Appreciates Melinda:
To the unsung hero of our church who happens to be my wife.

Our church will never know how much you do that we all take for granted. The big and small things you do around here are the oil that makes things run smoother. You are a great Pastor's wife, and one of the best in the business.

On a personal note, you have exceeded all my expectations. You definitely are a Proverbs 31 kind of gal. My ministry benefits from your personal sacrifice that allows me to give my best for God every day. I'm very blessed to have you as my wife, and this church is very blessed for your untiring devotion to it's work here.
